I prefer to leave a little to the imagination.Insanity is truly a crazy workout-Insanity The Asylum is the evolution of this crazy workout. It incorporates a similar training philosophy as the original Insanity workout, but there will be less recovery and it also includes some of the equipment that’s shown in the video below. He will breakdown exactly what you are in store for. It was so nice to feel the burn again, and reassured me that this workout will tone and burn fat.Īs usual I am inserting the link for Charles Lloyd Fitness. Not a killer sore, but the ‘I just molested the hell out of my entire body’ sore. I was literally smiling ear to ear the entire time! I was so amazed at how far I had come I kept pushing and pushing just to get the burn in. I thought back to my days with P90X and my struggles at the beginning and could not believe the amount of reps and exercises I was doing in the workout.

I absolutely loved this work out! I was missing the weight resistance portion in Insanity and this was a refreshing change of pace. Some you might have to go light, others you will want to extra weight on these. This is the only workout in the program which your results will be maximized if you log the weights you are using for each of your exercises. I also suggest you take a tip out of Tony Horton’s P90X playbook, which is “Write it Down”. Until I figured out what weight would be best I had each dumbbell set to a different weight until I knew which one I was using for the workout. If you have separate weights, then changing will be a little easier. If you have a interchangeable dumbbells like me it will make it a little hard to keep switching weights for different workouts. Trust me this is not your typical P90X weight training regiment. Once you feel comfy, then change the weights as necessary. This will let you learn the form, and you will still get a great workout. Tip for this workout: If Shaun T is popping your cherry for the first time on this workout, use a weight you are comfortable with for the whole workout. If you thought you were good at 180 squat jumps be ready for adding weight to it, and little twists. Oh and the cardio portion? I hope you remember some of your Insanity training, because it is intertwined with the weights now. So not only are you working the whole body, but you can really tell when you are done that this was made for toning, not massive muscle bulk. What is gravy on top of this is it that does a great job isolating specific muscles. Basically doing one workout you are using several different muscle groups at once. Unlike P90X, this workout covers every part of the body. This will make you smile and push even harder. You will see these bad boys (or budding bad boys) working at peak performance. However if you feel a little narcissistic, take a look at your arms and legs while you are doing these workouts. This will work you to the sinews of your muscle fibers. So if you thought the first go around was exhausting, then baby you ain’t seen nothing yet. Once you start the next round Shaun T adds a little twist for every workout. However Shaun T reminds you that you are in the Asylum, and we are all a little bit crazy here.

You do a few exercises, get a water break, and then repeat. The workouts are setup kind of like Insanity. Then you have the stretch and the fun begins.
THE INSANITY ASYLUM WORKOUT SERIES
You do a series of different exercises and repeat them twice. The warmup jumps right out of the gate with weights. This confused the hell out of me since I have never heard of it before. Shaun T states that in the workout you will be doing a cardio strength workout. All you need for this workout is weights, pull-up bar, and a yoga mat. Coming out of Insanity which included no form of weight training, I was curious how this workout was going to pan out. This workout is reserved for the second workout of the month.
